Prez Says for August 2023

Welcome to August, the month of Seafair, the Blue Angels, and the Dog Days of Summer!  I hope you and your family will have fun attending an outdoor August event.

On August 1st at 7:00 PM at the North Bellevue Community Center, our General Meeting program will be "The Metaverse" presented by KEGS Member Andy Peck. This will be a hybrid meeting.  The metaverse is not just a single technology, but a combination of various technologies such as virtual reality, augmented reality, blockchain, artificial intelligence, and cloud computing. The metaverse is also not a fixed concept, but a dynamic and evolving one that depends on the creativity and innovation of its users and developers. The metaverse is a fascinating topic that has captured the imagination of many people. It is also a complex and controversial topic that has raised many questions and debates. What do you think about the metaverse? Do you have any questions or opinions about it?  You are encouraged to attend our in-person meeting as sundown is later now and you will have time to drive home in daylight.

Do you have questions about one of your computer devices or software?   Join Leader Andy Peck at 6:00 PM on August 1st for our Tech Corner, a hybrid meeting.

If you want to learn more about Linux, visit Steve Herber at our Linux Special Interest Group hybrid meeting starting at 6:30 PM on August 8th.  The Linux Group also has a build-your-own server project Zoom meeting at 6:30 PM on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of each month.

Don't forget to drop in on Sally Ann at our Zoom Digital Imaging Special Interest Group Meeting at 7:00 PM on August 22nd.  August's theme is Planes.

Prez Says for September 2024

Welcome to September, the month of Labor Day, football, back to school, and technology sales. The weather is transitioning to more pleasant days.  Do you plan to update any of your technology devices this month?

On September 3rd, we will have our Tech Corner and General Meeting in person at the North Bellevue Community Center and via Zoom. Our General Meeting program will be "Extending the Life of Your Smartphone Battery" presented by John Krout.   Does your battery warm up while being charged?  Heat is the mortal enemy of your battery.  Learn how to avoid heating, set your phone to avoid charging into the danger zone, and use apps to prompt you when to start charging.

Do you have questions about one of your computer devices or software? Join us in-person or via Zoom at 6:00 PM on September 3rd for our Technology Corner.

If you want to learn more about Linux, visit Steve Herber at our Linux Special Interest Group hybrid meeting (in-person and Zoom combined) starting at 6:30 PM on September 10th.  The Linux Group also has a build-your-own server project Zoom meeting at 7:00 PM on the 1st and 3rd Thursday of September.

You are invited to attend the Digital Imaging Special Interest Group Meeting via Zoom with Sally Ann at 7:00 PM on Tuesday evening, September 24th.  September’s topic is Lakes or Rivers.

To keep up with technology, visit https://www.techforsenior.com to learn about their Monday morning meetings (9:00 AM PT), their Newsletter, and their Facebook page.

Please consider joining us at the North Bellevue Community Center for our September meetings.  Would you be willing to serve on the Board of Directors?

We need a space to store and sort items for our Auction; a garage that holds cars that can be moved out for one half day in June would be great.

We welcome visitors!  Please encourage your friends to join KEGS, the Linux SIG, or the Digital imaging SIG.

I look forward to seeing you soon.
